The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host the Asian Science Camp 2026 (ASC 2026 or the Camp), bringing together over 300 pre-collegiate and college students from nearly 30 countries and regions from August 2 to 8, 2026, on the HKU campus. Marking the first time the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is hosting the Camp, ASC 2026 will provide a dynamic platform for participants to engage with Nobel Laureates and leading scientists, explore the latest developments across diverse fields, and take part in interactive, hands-on learning experiences.

Over the course of ASC 2026, students will benefit from a rich programme of plenary lectures, scientific discussions, and practical activities spanning a wide range of disciplines. Through mentorship and dialogue with world-class experts, participants will deepen their understanding of scientific inquiry, strengthen research awareness, and develop the confidence to ask questions that will shape the future of science. A major highlight is the opportunity to learn directly from top-tier scientists, including Nobel Laureates, reflecting the Camp’s commitment to nurturing young scientific talent through meaningful exposure to cutting-edge research and real-world scientific thinking.

ASC 2026 also underscores HKU’s dedication to advancing science and innovation in the region and beyond. As a global top-tier university, HKU continues to cultivate a research-driven, interdisciplinary environment and to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for an ever-evolving world.

The ASC is an annual forum for pre-collegiate and college students that aims at promoting discussion and cooperation among Asian students for the betterment of science in the Asian region. The idea of an annual camp was co-proposed by Professor Yuan Tseh Lee (1986 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry) and Professor Masatoshi Koshiba (2002 Nobel Laureate in Physics) at the 2005 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.

Since its inception in 2007, the ASC has been organised to support young people with strong scientific curiosity, providing them with a stimulating environment for learning, collaboration, and international exchange. By bringing together participants and experts across borders, the Camp aims to inspire creativity, collaboration, and responsible scientific thinking.

Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKU, will officiate the Opening Ceremony of ASC 2026 on August 3, 2026, which is expected to be attended by Nobel Laureates, participating students, and distinguished guests from across different regions and sectors. Professor Jay Siegel, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) of HKU, will meet media after the opening ceremony.
