The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host the Closing Ceremony of the Fitness Buddies for Inclusion (FBI) with the Blind Programme, an innovative initiative proudly organised by the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) in collaboration with Centre For Sports and Exercise (CSE), Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society (HKNPIS) and Beyond Vision International (BVI).

This innovative programme has successfully recruited more than 60 HKU students who are passionate about sports and community service to become fitness buddies for over 30 visually impaired persons, particularly blind elderly from the community, promoting disability inclusion, physical and mental well-being, and the spirit of servant leadership.

The Closing Ceremony will be a celebration of our participants’ achievements, as well as a recognition of the valuable contributions made by our partners and participants. Prof. Samson TSE, Dean of Student Affairs, will commence the ceremony with an opening address highlighting the core values and significance of this programme. And we are honoured to welcome Ms. Linda LAM Mei-sau, SBS, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission, who will deliver a keynote speech on the significance of disability inclusion. Additionally, Mr. Benny CHU Kin-wa, a retired Hong Kong Para Triathlon Athlete from the China Hong Kong Olympic Committee, will join us for an engaging chit-chat session, sharing the highs and lows of his athletic career with our students. The ceremony will conclude with a heartfelt closing speech by Mr. Mok Kim Wing, MH, the Chief Executive of HKNPIS, who will share his first-hand experiences as a participant of the programme himself.
